San Francisco 49ers, RB Christian McCaffrey Agree to Two-Year, $38M Contract Extension

The San Francisco 49ers and NFL star running back Christian McCaffrey, the reigning Offensive Player of the Year, have agreed to a two-year, $38 million contract extension, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday. The deal was negotiated by WME Football.

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey is guaranteed his 2024 and 2025 salaries

McCaffrey, who turns 28 on Friday, is averaging $19 million with this new deal and will receive an additional $8 million over what he was slated to make in 2024 and 2025 while adding $24 million in guarantees. His new deal will keep him in San Francisco through the 2027 season.

Following the new contract agreement, McCaffrey was back with the 49ers for the start of the mandatory minicamp Tuesday after skipping the voluntary portion of the team's offseason program.
