Bally Bet Expected To Launch In Massachusetts In July

Bally Bet is expected to launch in Massachusetts in early July, according to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. The sports betting app was supposed to launch this week, but the company needed another week.

Bally Bet paid Massachusetts sports betting regulators $1 million to review its license before the start of 2024

Furthermore, Bally Bet paid Massachusetts sports betting regulators $1 million to renew its Category 3 Sports Wagering Operator license for another year before the start of 2024.

However, it still has yet to announce an official launch date.

In March, then-MGC chair Cathy Judd-Stein, who retired from the commission that month, said Bally Bet shouldn’t be allowed to promote their Massachusetts gaming license without actually using it.

Judd-Stein said: “This is a peerless privilege, to have a Massachusetts license. They have it on their documents that they have our license. I’m upset if we haven’t properly protected us, to say, ‘You don’t just get to say you have a license, you’ve got to be producing revenue.’

“Quite frankly, they’re [operating iGaming] in Rhode Island. Are they not operating in Massachusetts because they want to benefit Rhode Island? But they did pay their million dollars, so that’s good news for the Commonwealth.”

Sportsbook will become the seventh active sports betting app in Massachusetts

When it goes live, Bally Bet will become the seventh active sports betting app in Massachusetts. The sportsbook is also expected to launch in Maryland in July, which will make it operational in nine states.

Available sportsbooks in Massachusetts include BetMGM, Caesars, DraftKings, ESPN BET, Fanatics, and FanDuel. WynnBET ceased all operations in the Bay State in late February.

Bally Bet's sportsbook is currently live in seven states: Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, New York, Ohio, and Virginia. The company's online casino gaming went live in Rhode Island on March 5.

According to the Rhode Island press release, Bally Bet allowed customers to play slots and table games anywhere in the Ocean State on desktop or on an iOS standalone mobile app.

The public launch of the online gaming product followed a four-day technical trial period in which select guests were invited to experience the new online gaming program.
