Assuming his career continues down the path he's already carved out for himself, Patrick Mahomes will undoubtedly be included in the NFL GOAT conversation at some point, at least in the quarterback category. And he can certainly give his resume a big bump if he wins a second NFL MVP award and/or a second Super Bowl, both of which could easily happen in the very near future.

But ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl 57 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, Mahomes was asked about a different GOAT conversation, that being the ongoing NBA debate involving Michael Jordan and LeBron James. And his take was quite interesting.

During an interview on FS1's First Things First, Mahomes was complimented on his own basketball skills as he played in high school and was then asked to make a choice on the Jordan-LeBron GOAT debate. And here's what the Super Bowl champ had to say:

“Man, that's a tough one, man. My dad used to have me, like, watching documentaries on DVDs of Michael Jordan — of classic games. So, I would say if I had one game, I would take Michael Jordan — or one series. But I would say for a full entire season, I gotta go with LeBron because he can do a little bit of everything.”

While Mahomes' take is a bit of a copout, I'm actually okay with the answer he gave. I've made no secret of the fact that this neverending debate has long been a pointless one, as Michael Jordan and LeBron James are completely different types of basketball players.

And Mahomes somewhat referenced that in his response with the “he can do a little bit of everything” comment.

Now, it's not that Jordan couldn't do everything well in his own right. He certainly could. But James has always chosen to pass the basketball a little more than MJ did. And LeBron's size has allowed him to be a better rebounder. And that's not an opinion. Those are just facts.
