Stop me if you've heard this before: Scottie Scheffler won another tournament on the PGA Tour.
Scheffler boat raced a loaded field at the 2023 Players Championship to win his second event of the year and his sixth since the start of last season. The World No. 2 fired a final-round 69 to finish the championship at 17 under par and win by five shots.
With his win at the Players Championship, Scheffler banked the largest cash prize in PGA Tour history to bring his earnings from the start of last season to $24.5 million.
Not too shabby.

Just when you think Scheffler has hit his peak as a professional golfer, he wins another big-time event to ascend even higher.
This time, it was the Players Championship, the “fifth major” on the PGA Tour. It wasn't much of a contest, either. Scheffler entered the final round two strokes clear of the rest of the field, and he fired a final-round 69 to lap the rest of the contenders and win by five strokes at 17 under par.
With the win, Scheffler jumped Jon Rahm to become the No. 1 player in the OWGR once again. The Texan has now won two of his last four starts on the PGA Tour, and he's recorded six top-10 finishes in nine starts this season.
He'll also go home with the largest check in PGA Tour history.

Purses on the PGA Tour this season are larger than they've ever been, and that was especially true at the Players Championship. The purse at TPC Sawgrass this week was set at a record $25 million, and Scheffler took home $4.5 million for the largest payday in PGA Tour history.
Dating back to the start of last season, Scheffler has banked $24.5 million in on-course earnings alone, and that doesn't even include the $5.75 million he won for his T2 finish at the 2022 Tour Championship.
Scheffler is already up to $10.5 million in on-course earnings this season, and it took him only nine starts to get there. The way he's playing, it wouldn't be surprising if the World No. 1 surpassed $20 million in earnings this season before reaching the Tour Championship in August.
Talk about a hot streak.
