Vince Carter's legendary career is now over. Over the course of his legendary career, he has ultimately racked up a massive net worth.

As it looks like the NBA will be returning with only 22 teams, one of the league’s legends has now officially played his last game. Vince Carter is on one of the teams not returning to play, and with the 2019-20 season being his last in the league, he is now officially done with his NBA career. Since Carter has had such a long and successful career in the NBA on several teams, including the Toronto Raptors and New Jersey Nets, how large of a net worth has he ultimately racked up?

Vince Carter was a star for the Raptors and Nets

After being a star for the North Carolina Tar Heels in college, the Golden State Warriors selected Vince Carter with the fifth overall pick in the 1998 NBA draft. He was, however, traded to the Toronto Raptors, where he became an absolute star.

Carter won the 1998-99 Rookie of the Year award as he averaged 18.3 points per game and 5.7 rebounds in his first year in the league. After that, Carter then earned eight straight All-Star selections.

Carter averaged 25.7 points per game in 1999-2000 and 27.6 points per game in 2000-01. He went on to score 20 points per game or more every season for the Raptors and New Jersey Nets from 1999-2000 through 2008-09.

After spending over six seasons with the Raptors and over four seasons with the Nets, and not having much postseason success with either of them, Carter then became a journeyman.

Carter spent the 2009-10 season and part of the next season with the Orlando Magic, and part of the 2010-11 season with the Phoenix Suns. He then spent three seasons with the Dallas Mavericks, three with the Memphis Grizzlies, one with the Sacramento Kings, and two with the Atlanta Hawks.

In his career, Carter averaged 16.7 points per game and 4.3 rebounds. He is also in the top 25 all-time in points scored with 25,728. The only indictment on Carter’s career is that he never won an NBA championship.

Playing his last game in the NBA

Vince Carter played for the Atlanta Hawks this season, and when the NBA suspended the season due to COVID-19 in March, there was a feeling that Carter had played his last game in the league.

After playing in a game with the Hawks on March 11, Carter discussed the possibility of it being his last game ever.

“I'm not one for the whole thing anyway,” Carter said, according to CBS Sports. “So if you ask a lot of people around me, they'll tell you this. I'm appreciative, but I just do my time, walk out the door, it's OK with me, believe it or not. I'm cool. I just ... the game's been good.”

Now, the NBA is most likely returning on July 31 in Orlando, but only 22 teams will be playing. The top 16 teams from both the Eastern Conference and Western Conference will be coming back, and joining them will be six other teams within six games of the eighth seed in each conference, according to ESPN. With the Hawks being 11 games back of the eighth-seeded Orlando Magic in the East, they will not be returning.

That means Vince Carter has, in fact, officially played his last game in the NBA.
