The X-Men Are Heading To The MCU

It's only a matter of time before the live-action version of the X-Men arrives in the MCU.

In May 2024, Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes writer Michael Lesslie was in negotiations to pen the X-Men movie (via Deadline). No actors are attached to any of the roles. However, fans are starting to speculate about who will play the legendary superheroes.

One of the most popular X-Men is Logan Howlett, a.k.a. Wolverine. Hugh Jackman has played the iconic character since 2000’s X-Men. Jackman will reprise Logan for Deadpool & Wolverine. Additionally, there are rumors that Jackman’s Wolverine will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.

At some point, a new X-Men film will premiere in the MCU, meaning another actor will play Wolverine.

Taron Egerton, Tom Hardy Among The Early Favorites

Taron Egerton (+200) is the current favorite to take over for Jackman. Edgerton has been linked to the MCU for a few years now. The Welsh actor confirmed that he spoke with Marvel and would consider playing Wolverine. At only 34, Egerton is still young enough to play Logan, making him a great choice to put on the claws.

Tom Hardy (+300) is no stranger to playing comic book characters. Hardy currently stars as Eddie Brock in the Venom series. However, Venom: The Last Dance will be the last film in Hardy’s Venom trilogy. Though he may be too old (46) to play Logan, it’s not off the table, considering he’ll be moving on from Venom.

Henry Cavill (+800) is best known for playing Superman. However, Cavill is no longer playing Clark Kent, meaning he has the freedom to step into another comic book role. There is speculation that Cavill could play a variant of Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool movie. If that appearance goes well, perhaps Marvel will ask Cavill to stick around for their X-Men film.

Daniel Radcliffe (+2000), an actor best known for playing Harry Potter, is a surprising candidate on this list. Yet, many fans have wanted Radcliffe to take over for Jackman. However, Radcliffe shot the Wolverine rumors down. Yet, Radcliffe certainly wouldn’t be the first actor to deny a rumor that eventually comes true.
