The PGA Tour FedEx Cup Playoffs Field Is Set Following a Wild Finish at the Wyndham Championship

If the final day of the 2020-21 PGA Tour regular season is any indication of how the FedEx Cup Playoffs are going to be, golf fans are in for a treat over the next three weeks. On a wild Sunday at the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, Kevin Kisner survived a six-man playoff to notch his fourth PGA Tour win and his first in more than two years.
With the Wyndham now at an end, the 125-man field for the first leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs is now set, and a few familiar names are missing. Rickie Fowler needed a good showing at Sedgefield but failed to make the cut. Former No. 1 player in the world and 2018 FedEx Cup champion Justin Rose bogeyed the 18th hole on Sunday and dropped to 126th in the standings, leaving him on the outside looking in for the first time in his career.
So exactly who did make it into the 2021 FedEx Cup Playoffs?
Kevin Kisner survived a six-man playoff at the Wyndham Championship and vaulted into the top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings
While Kisner didn't need the win at the Wyndham Championship, he'll certainly take it, and he definitely worked hard to get it. Four behind 54-hole leader Russell Henley coming into Sunday's final round, which began early due to storms in the forecast in Greensboro, Kisner fired a second consecutive 4-under round of 66 to get to himself into a historic six-man sudden-death playoff.
But that playoff oddly did not include Henley, who shot a 1-over 71 and finished one shot behind Kisner, Kevin Na, Branden Grace, Si Woo Kim, Adam Scott, and Roger Sloan. All made par on the first extra hole, but Kisner was the only one to make birdie on the second after stuffing a 9-iron to four feet. The 37-year-old began the tournament in 69th place in the FedEx Cup standings but vaulted into the top 30 with the victory, 29th to be exact.

Here's a look at the 125 players who qualified for The Northern Trust, the first leg of the PGA Tour FedEx Cup Playoffs, which will be contested at Liberty National Golf Club in Liberty, New Jersey, from August 19 to August 22.

The top 70 qualify for the BMW Championship
Following The Northern Trust, the top 70 in the FedEx Cup standings move on to the BMW Championship, which takes place at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland, from August 26 to August 29. From there, the top 30 in the standings will compete in the Tour Championship, which remains at its usual venue at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta and will be contested from September 2 to September 5.
