Blake Griffin is an American professional basketball player for the NBA (National Basketball Association). During his career, Griffin has played for the Los Angeles Clippers (2009-2018), the Detroit Pistons (2018-2021), and the Brooklyn Nets (2021-Present).
Blake Griffin started playing basketball at Oklahoma Christian School under his father, head coach Tommy Griffin, helping the team to two state championships and a perfect season in his freshman year. Recruited for several colleges, Griffin's brother convinced him to pick the University of Oklahoma, where they could play together as part of the Oklahoma Sooners.
Deciding to move on after his sophomore year in college, Blake Griffin was the first-round draft pick for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2009. Although he was named the Summer League MVP, Griffin received a knee injury during the team's final preseason game, causing him to miss the rest of his (would-be) debut season. However, returning for the 2010-2011 season as a rookie, Griffin was added to the NBA All-Star Team, won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, and was named NBA Rookie of the Year, all in 2011.
