He has an unorthodox and exciting style that can keep <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/nfl\/3-takeaways-from-episode-one-of-the-oakland-raiders-on-hard-knocks\/\">fans\u00a0entertained<\/a> and avoid the boring, monotonous commentary of some other announcing teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McAfee just signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AdamSchefter\/status\/1155851728304181249\">multi-year deal with ESPN<\/a> as a college football analyst, so today we will go over his post NFL career and determine if he will be a good fit in the ESPN studios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pat McAfee's NFL career<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Pat McAfee Career Highlights\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0FSa9dPovIg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Punters don't normally get a lot of press, but Pat McAfee stood out as one of the most charismatic individuals on his teams' in <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/nfl\/jay-ajayi-to-the-colts-and-other-nfl-moves-that-need-to-happen-this-offseason\/\">Indianapolis<\/a>. He played eight seasons in the NFL after being a <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/nfl\/happened-to-biggest-nfl-draft-busts-ever\/\">seventh-round pick<\/a> and reached the Pro Bowl two times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a punter, he averaged 46 yards per punt and had only four blocked his entire career. McAfee was able to get a shot at doing commentary at the WWE Performance Center in Florida, and we think he would be excellent with the WWE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, the Raw and SmackDown shows have veterans who have paid their dues to get where they are, but none of the five analysts scream excitement as something major happens on the show. We aren't going to sit here and bash the crew, especially Jason Witten, because it's been done enough by media outlets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finding someone to replace Witten was ESPN's next step, and they flirted with Peyton Manning and McAfee, among others.\u00a0Ultimately McAfee was not selected, but many think this was a blessing in disguise as he was able to land another gig with the worldwide leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Becoming a college football analyst<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Pat McAfee&#039;s Best Calls During Lions vs. Packers in Week 17\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LJZgUlDGrXM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Pat McAfee just signed a new contract with ESPN to be a part of their extremely\u00a0massive college football team. He will provide the commentary on the\u00a0Thursday night telecasts and can bring something to the table that other\u00a0analysts are not\u00a0able to from a special teams perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One thing ESPN's Monday Night crew had going for them was Booger McFarland's ability to dissect the offensive and defensive line play in the trenches, being a former star himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Something McAfee will be able to\u00a0bring is\u00a0special teams knowledge that the casual fan may not know about.
