Fittingly nicknamed The Truth, Pierce certainly can drop a lot of NBA wisdom after playing 1,343 regular-season games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/steph-currys-wife-gave-him-the-best-gift-an-nba-player-could-ask-for\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"sports world at a standstill (opens in a new tab)\">sports world at a standstill<\/a> due to the coronavirus pandemic, there has been rampant speculation about how the NBA will finish its season. A number of out-of-the-box proposals have been thrown around. With the basketball season on hold, that hasn't stopped players and the league from crafting new ways to keep the game alive. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/28995745\/sources-nba-espn-working-televising-h-o-r-s-e-competition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski (opens in a new tab)\">ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski<\/a>, the NBA and ESPN are working on a televised H-O-R-S-E competition that would involve a few of the league's most prominent superstars. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Discussions have been ongoing among the NBA, NBPA and ESPN about a competition among several players in isolation &#8212; presumably using home gyms &#8212; that would include them competing shot for shot in the traditional playground game, sources said.<br><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>While the details of the proposed H-O-R-S-E competition have yet to be finalized, the thought alone represents a fantastic attempt by the NBA to still bring excitement to its loyal audience. Because the NBA's isolation protocols prevent players from competing in a single location, this idea seems to circumvent that issue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mark Cuban thinks an NBA season without fans is possible <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mark Cuban is optimistic the NBA season won&#039;t be canceled | First Take\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Qh6Cb_q6T74?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposed H-O-R-S-E competition still doesn't take away from the mystery about the return of actual NBA games. <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/jason-terrys-tattoo-predicted-mavericks-2011-nba-title\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Dallas Mavericks (opens in a new tab)\">Dallas Mavericks<\/a> owner Mark Cuban has been at the forefront of the coronavirus-related issues. The savvy businessman has not been shy about sharing his opinions during this trying time. Cuban <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"did offer some insight (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/mark-cuban-thinks-the-nba-could-return-in-may-with-1-condition\/\" >did offer some insight<\/a> into how the NBA could finish out its season. The outspoken owner thinks the league could resume play in May, albeit with a major caveat: no fans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From a safety standpoint, that measure makes absolute sense. At the same time, it's fair to wonder how professional athletes will respond to playing in front of empty arenas. It certainly wasn't an issue Paul Pierce had to face back in his playing days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Financially speaking, the lack of fans would also have a major effect on the NBA's bottom line. Still, Cuban has never tried to <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/mark-cuban-to-help-hourly-nba-workers-cope-with-lost-wages-from-suspended-games-due-to-coronavirus\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"put the business side (opens in a new tab)\">put the business side<\/a> of the issue ahead of the humanitarian one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Paul Pierce and his out-of-this-world idea <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">If the NBA wants to re-start its season, the league may have to quarantine players in a central location. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealJayWilliams?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@RealJayWilliams<\/a> says using cruise ships could safeguard against anyone breaking isolation. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/paulpierce34?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@PaulPierce34<\/a> has other ideas: &quot;maybe ask the government if we can use Area 51&quot; \ud83d\ude02 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/EY4d6S1Igu\">pic.twitter.com\/EY4d6S1Igu<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Rachel Nichols (@Rachel__Nichols) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Rachel__Nichols\/status\/1245151761561554945?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 1, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If it were up to Paul Pierce, the idea of playing in front of an empty crowd or on a cruise ship just doesn't add up. The <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/paul-pierce-carried-gun-ready-to-kill-for-two-years-after-stabbing-incident\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"former Celtics captain (opens in a new tab)\">former Celtics captain<\/a> proposed Las Vegas hotels as a possible destination. And while that idea probably won't happen, that wasn't even his craziest proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pierce's plan includes asking the government for permission to use Area 51 as an NBA site. Now, nobody truly knows what goes on behind those doors, but it's safe to assume there aren't full-sized NBA courts installed somewhere on the mysterious compound.
