From embarrassing opponents on the floor to <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/kobe-bryant-farewell-speech-towel-sells-for-33000\/\">dropping thousands of dollars<\/a> on champagne just to prove a point, Bryant was determined to be the best. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-kobe-bryant-s-hall-of-fame-nba-career\">Kobe Bryant's Hall of Fame NBA career<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Kobe entered the NBA as a teenager and retired as a living legend. Blessed with the perfect combination of size, speed, explosion, and heart, he devoted his entire career to the Lakers. He was immortalized in the NBA Hall of Fame as part of a stacked 2020 class featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/kevin-garnett-made-334-million-by-skipping-school\/\">Kevin Garnett<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/tim-duncan-was-so-nice-he-taught-opponents-how-to-beat-him\/\">Tim Duncan<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-competitiveness-fueled-the-lakers-legend\">Competitiveness fueled the Lakers legend<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/shareef-oneal-reveals-what-could-have-been-kobe-bryants-final-text-message-before-his-death\/\">Kobe's untimely death<\/a> rocked the basketball community and the world at large. At his memorial, several prominent members of his inner circle reflected on his legendary competitiveness from the court to his home life, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/2020\/02\/24\/kobe-bryant-memorial-competitive-drive-stories\/4863975002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">USA Today<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shaq had many bouts with Kobe during their time together in LA. But both NBA legends deeply desired to win above everything else. When the titanic center tried to teach his sidekick a lesson, Kobe's competitive nature showed through. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKobe, there\u2019s no \u2018I\u2019 in \u2018team,\u201d O\u2019Neal recalled saying, likely more than once. \u201cHe said, \u2018I know, but there\u2019s an \u2018M-E\u2019 in that (expletive).' \u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kobe hired Rob Pelinka as his agent in 2003, but he became much more than that. In fact, the NBA executive became Gigi's godfather. The Lakers star watched poker legend Antonio &#8220;The Magician&#8221; Esfandiari buy two $1,400 bottles of Cristal champagne. As urban legend has it, Kobe responded by ordering five bottles. Esfandiari upped the ante to 10. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In typical Kobe fashion, he wouldn't be denied. The multi-millionaire reportedly purchased 15 bottles, which cost about $21,000, and walked straight out of the club.
