But professional golfers at the highest level\nenjoy perks that make life on the road cushy in comparison to what other\nathletes face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\nare courtesy cars waiting for them at the airport for many of the tournaments\nthey play, blocks of rooms at the most convenient full-service hotels are\nreserved on their behalf, and they can hand-pick the weekends that they want to\nplay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That doesn\u2019t even factor in being guaranteed prize money as long as they make the cut or the fact that there are rarely any additional commitments in order to play other than participating in a pro-am. That frees up time and contributes to making it that much simpler for a golfer to bring his family along if he desires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I hit a little white ball around a field sometimes,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/why-rory-mcilroy-wont-be-teeing-it-up-with-donald-trump-again-anytime-soon\/\">Northern Irish star Rory McIlroy<\/a> writes on his Twitter account. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In that context, McIlroy was justified in calling out European Tour competitors who have playing rights on the PGA Tour yet are sitting home retting about losing ground in the world rankings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I mean, if you really care about your career and care about moving forward, you should be here,&#8221; said McIlroy, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/golf\/53084600\">the BBC<\/a>.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/golf\/53084600\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rory McIlroy put up with a minor inconvenience in order to play<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">On the road again for three weeks.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CSChallengeFW?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CSChallengeFW<\/a> \u2192 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RBC_Heritage?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@RBC_Heritage<\/a> \u2192 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TravelersChamp?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@TravelersChamp<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yXliCXrUqQ\">https:\/\/t.co\/yXliCXrUqQ<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Rory McIlroy (@McIlroyRory) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/McIlroyRory\/status\/1270736618111074305?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 10, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nleaderboard at the Charles Schwab Challenge last weekend was dominated by\nAmerican competitors, though there were plenty of international stars in the\nfield, including Justin Rose and Ian Poulter of England. Tommy Fleetwood, also\nof England, opted not to come stateside to play, and it cost him his place in\nthe top 10 of the Official World Golf Ranking as Xander Schauffele slipped\npast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nabsence of Fleetwood and Francesco Molinari of Italy was brought to the\nattention of 2011 U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy, who has three other majors\nto his credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Look, personally, if I were in their shoes and I was asked\nto come over to the States and shelter in place or quarantine for two weeks\nbefore these tournaments, I would have done that,&#8221; McIlroy said. &#8220;I\nget there's different variables and families and stuff involved, but we all\nhave the means to rent a very nice house in a gated community in Florida. ... You\nknow, it's not a hardship for two weeks to come over and quarantine.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McIlroy is correct in that respect. Golfers are, in essence,\nindependent contractors with lots of options and discretionary time off. McIlroy had no reluctance in dialing up Diamond\nand getting him to travel to the United States and then wait out the\nquarantine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I mean, it's fine,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/mcilroy-players-care-us-pga-094247460.html\">McIlroy said<\/a>. \u201cMy caddie, Harry, came over and did it. He stayed in our guest house. The two weeks flew by. I honestly don't understand the guys complaining because there is a solution to it.
