Despite the current turmoil between the two, Barkley has long said that there's never been anyone better than the six-time champion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both taken in famed 1984 draft, Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan were easily two of the best players of their era. Initially rivals in the Eastern Conference as members of the Philadelphia 76ers and Chicago Bulls, respectively, the two met in the NBA Finals in 1993 after Barkley was traded to the Phoenix Suns, a series in which Jordan averaged 41 points to lead Chicago to a third consecutive NBA title. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The summer before, the two won a gold medal together as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/michael-jordan-was-not-the-best-player-on-the-1992-dream-team\/\">Dream Team<\/a> at the Barcelona Olympics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Charles Barkley has seven players on his list that played for the Lakers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Top 10 Lakers Players of All Time\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/w6m9SJgepPc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/how-charles-barkleys-controversial-i-am-not-a-role-model-nike-spot-came-to-be\/\">How Charles Barkley's Controversial &#8216;I Am Not a Role Model' Nike Spot Came to Be<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the other 10 guys on his list, Charles Barkley included seven players that at one time or another wore a Los Angeles Lakers uniform: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/kobe-bryant-the-good-the-bad-and-the-ugly-of-the-dozen-players-drafted-ahead-of-the-black-mamba-24-years-ago-today\/\">Kobe Bryant<\/a>, LeBron James, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, and Magic Johnson. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nba\/lakers\/news\/shaquille-oneal-is-shocked-after-charles-barkley-doesnt-include-him-on-his-top-10-list\">h\/t Sports Illustrated<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;I have a problem with your list, Chuck. You ain\u2019t got me in the top 10. Whatever you\u2019re smoking down there in Reno, you need to take it back to wherever you got it from.&#8221;<\/p><cite>Shaq to Charles Barkley<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Barkley insisted that he respected Shaq and wasn't trying to slight him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;I\u2019ve never seen anybody like Shaq. Ever. Shaq is the most dominant big man ever, in my opinion. But, I put him behind Magic, Bird, LeBron, and Kobe. I didn\u2019t put him behind anyone crazy.&#8221;<\/p><cite>Charles Barkley<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The conversation was all in good fun and ended with Shaq waving his finger at Charles Barkley, telling him they'd figure it out when they saw each other next.
