The <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/nascar-star-joey-loganos-surprising-diagnosis-will-affect-him-for-the-rest-of-his-life\/\">30-year-old NASCAR driver <\/a>was more into ice hockey and <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/tag\/motorsports\">motorsports<\/a> when he was growing up in Middletown, Connecticut. It wasn't until he began racing professionally that football became more prevalent in his life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Joey Logano gets an early start in the NASCAR world<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Joey Logano wants to win NASCAR Cup Series championship at all costs | Motorsports on NBC\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_ffR9ahLJU0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/denny-hamlin-knew-he-was-destined-for-nascar-racing-at-age-7\/\">Denny Hamlin Knew He Was Destined for NASCAR Racing at Age 7<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It didn't take long for Joey Logano to make a name for himself in the world of NASCAR. <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/joey-loganos-family-had-no-interest-in-racing-before-he-started-winning-you-call-this-a-sport\/\">Logano made his NASCAR debut<\/a> at the age of 18 and earned his first victory shortly thereafter. Logano collected his first win in the third race of his professional career, claiming the Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway in the Nationwide Series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A year later, Logano became the youngest winner in Cup Series history when he earned a victory at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. At 19, he claimed the 2009 Lenox Industrial Tools 301. In 2015, he became the second-youngest driver to win the Daytona 500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Logano has 26 Cup Series victories in his career and has finished in the top 10 218 times. Logano is coming off a victory in last weekend's Hollywood Casino 400 in Kansas. He hadn't won a <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/what-is-the-nascar-cup-series\/\">NASCAR Cup<\/a> race since March 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Logano gained his football knowledge from Joe Gibbs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Joey Logano wins at Kansas; Denny Hamlin slips up; Kurt Busch goes boom | Motorsports on NBC\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GyiLaK1LsZk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Logano, who drives for Team Penske, previously drove for Joe Gibbs Racing. Gibbs is the former head coach of the <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/how-the-washington-redskins-got-their-name\/\">Washington Redskins<\/a>. Gibbs coached 16 years in the NFL, all with the Redskins. He won three Super Bowls and is a two-time AP Coach of the Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Logano said he was never a big fan of football. He said he watched it a little bit when he was young, but Gibbs got him more into it. He attended several games with Gibbs in the past. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I watched football, but I wasn't a huge fan until I signed with Joe Gibbs Racing. Or at least try to kick some field goals with then-kicker Stephen Gostkowski.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I played hockey growing up. (But) kicking a football, I had no technique,&#8221; Logano said, according to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow sponsored\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/blog\/boston\/new-england-patriots\/post\/_\/id\/4703822\/nascars-logano-visits-gillette-stadium\">ESPN<\/a>. &#8220;I'm not very flexible &#8212; I can't even touch my toes &#8212; so it was definitely interesting. I'm sure I didn't look too coordinated out there.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Logano said he'll pass on kicking footballs and will stick to racing. &#8220;I had fun with that,&#8221; Logano said. &#8220;I've never really kicked a football before. I'm not very athletic when it comes to every sport.
