For many of us, receiving a paycheck makes nearly any job worthwhile. However, for <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/tag\/michael-jordan\/\">Michael Jordan<\/a> it was the exact opposite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During his <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/michael-jordan-height-how-tall\/\">stellar playing career<\/a> between college and the NBA, Jordan became the face of basketball, winning a national championship with the <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/when-was-the-last-time-unc-basketball-missed-out-on-march-madness\/\">North Carolina Tar Heels<\/a> and Chicago Bulls. Let's look at how he feels about both teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-michael-jordan-at-the-university-of-north-carolina\">Michael Jordan at the University of North Carolina<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Michael Jordan UNC Highlights - Narrated by Dean Smith &amp; Woody Durham\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/p2cQDaA0Hu0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When Jordan arrived at North Carolina, he was one of the top basketball prospects in the country. He hit the game-clinching shot in the 1982 National Championship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MJ went on to win multiple awards, including Naismith Men's College Player of the Year and John R. Wooden Award, which both go to the most outstanding player in college basketball. Jordan also won the 1984 Associated Press Player of the Year award after averaging 19 points and five rebounds per game.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-did-jordan-prefer-playing-in-college-or-the-nba\">Did Jordan prefer playing in college or the NBA?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cigaraficionado.com\/article\/one-on-one-with-michael-jordan-6189\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cigar Aficionado<\/a> in a 2005 interview, Jordan explained whether he preferred college ball at UNC or basketball in the NBA:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;I would say it was for the Tar Heels. No one knew me until then. That's when the notoriety and everything began with Michael Jordan. By the time I got to Chicago, I was drafted three, so everybody knew I was at least decent.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Jordan was <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/david-falk-michael-jordan-agent-now\/\">definitely on the NBA's radar<\/a> once the draft rolled around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-becoming-an-icon-and-the-first-three-peat\">Becoming an icon and the first three-peat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Big men <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/what-happened-to-hakeem-the-dream-olajuwon\/\">Hakeem Olajuwon<\/a> and Sam Bowie headlined the infamous 1984 NBA Draft. But it's clear Jordan was the most impactful player in that draft for the growth of the game. Other notable players in the draft were future Hall-of-Famers <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/charles-barkley-reveals-his-top-nba-players-of-all-time-and-shaq-isnt-happy-about-the-list\/\">Charles Barkley<\/a> and the league's all-time assist leader in John Stockton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With his ability to score at will, Jordan took the NBA by storm. He won the 1985 NBA Rookie of the Year award after averaging 28 points, six rebounds, and six assists, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jordami01.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Basketball Reference<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the Bulls built the team around Jordan, they went back and forth with various Eastern Conference rivals (most notably the Detroit Pistons). Here are six facts about the Bulls dynasty, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/chicago\/bulls\/6-facts-about-90s-bulls-dynasty-michael-jordan-scottie-pippen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NBC Sports<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-achieving-the-second-three-peat\">Achieving the second three-peat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After his infamous return during the middle of the 1994\u201395 season, the Bulls needed to add a few pieces to return to title contention.
