Even his security detail, it seems, had to treat him with the ultimate respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you might assume, Michael Jordan's security detail assigned the NBA legend a code name. At the end of the day, though, His Airness made a name for himself as a supremely talented basketball player.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Jordan encountered an early setback when he <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/was-michael-jordan-really-cut-from-his-high-school-basketball-team\/\">infamously failed to make<\/a> his high school's varsity basketball team at the first attempt, that reality didn't stop him from finding a home on the hardwood. By the time he graduated, MJ had become a McDonald\u2019s All-American.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After graduation, Jordan's star only continued to rise. During his time with the University of North Carolina Tar Heels,\u00a0His Airness hit the game-winning shot to seal an NCAA title as a freshman. Even if that's not a conventional &#8216;win, it's still pretty impressive in its own right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-michael-jordan-was-called-yahweh-by-his-security-detail\">Michael Jordan was called &#8216;Yahweh' by his security detail<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, Michael Jordan earned plenty of impressive nicknames. On one occasion, he even called himself &#8216;Black Jesus.' That wasn't the only time, however, that his greatness earned him a religious moniker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;In case anyone in the inner circle forgets who's in charge, they only have to recall the code names given to them by the private security team assigned to overseas trips,&#8221; Wright Thompson recalled in an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/espn\/feature\/story\/_\/page\/Michael-Jordan\/michael-jordan-not-left-building\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ESPN<\/a> profile of MJ for the legend's 50th birthday. &#8220;Estee [Portnoy, Jordan's business manager] is Venom. George [Koehler, a close friend] is Butler. Yvette [Prieto, Jordan's then-fiance] is Harmony. Jordan is called Yahweh \u2014 a Hebrew word for God.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yahweh, however, isn't just the Hebrew word for God. As explained by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecompassnews.org\/2009\/01\/the-name-that-must-not-be-said-out-loud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Compass,<\/a> the official newspaper of the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Yahweh is considered God's name and, therefore, is taboo.
