Most of them were on an individual player-versus-player basis, like <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/scottie-pippen-despised-how-isiah-thomas-played-basketball\/\">Isiah Thomas<\/a>, but a few of them involved the entire team.\u00a0Today we'll look at Jordan's rivals, including a team that many fans wouldn't expect during the early part of his career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Chicago Bulls' rivalry with the Milwaukee Bucks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Michael Jordan 1985 Playoffs: Gm 3 Vs. During the 1980s, the Bucks were one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by Don Nelson, the team started the decade with seven seasons of 50+ wins, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/teams\/MIL\/\">Basketball Reference<\/a>. They were easily a thorn in Chicago's side and gave Jordan a first-round exit during his rookie season three games to one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here's what <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/michael-jordans-brutal-trash-talk-once-ruined-a-teammates-career\/\">Jordan had to say<\/a> about the Bucks when speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cigaraficionado.com\/article\/one-on-one-with-michael-jordan-6189\">Cigar Aficionado<\/a>: &#8220;Early on, it was Milwaukee. We couldn't beat Milwaukee. They were just 45 minutes to an hour away. They were a strong team and they constantly kept beating us. As his popularity grew around the world, there seemed to be a perceived slight between Jordan and <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/isiah-thomas-own-family-rooted-against-him-and-pulled-for-michael-jordan\/\">Pistons guard Thomas<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thomas was a native of Chicago and the two players were constantly seen going back and forth during games. Chicago would ultimately face off with Detroit in three straight playoffs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first meeting was in the 1988 Eastern Conference Semifinals, which Detroit won 4-2. The next season the two teams met in the Eastern Conference Finals, with another win by Detroit in seven games. It was another tough series for the Bulls. Detroit was arguably the most physical team in the NBA, and anytime a player from Chicago headed into the lane bodies were thrown at them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team didn't get the nickname &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/larry-bird-still-carries-his-strong-dislike-for-bill-laimbeer-off-the-court\/\">The Bad Boys<\/a>&#8221; for their fluid offense on the court. They were one of the grittiest and toughest teams the league had seen, and also won back-to-back championships, so it wasn't like the Bulls were facing a pushover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During Game 4 of the series, as the closing seconds winded down, Isiah Thomas led the team off of the bench and <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/bill-laimbeer-isnt-backing-down-on-the-pistons-walk-off-against-the-bulls-and-is-still-calling-them-names\/\">walked back to the locker room<\/a>, refusing to shake hands with the players and coaching staff of the Bulls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was taken as an extremely disrespectful act around the league, and some even speculate it was the main reason Thomas was kept off of the first Dream Team for the 1992 Olympic Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other rivals of the Bulls<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Michael Jordan Playoffs Career High Highlights 1986 ECR1 G2 vs Celtics - 63pts! The first was the Boston Celtics. Led by <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/larry-bird-refused-to-let-anyone-haze-him-during-his-rookie-year-with-the-boston-celtics\/\">Larry Bird<\/a>, they swept the Bulls in the first round in both 1986  and 1987. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other main rival of Jordan and the Bulls was the New York Knicks.
