Both are unfiltered and outspoken and, although they are on opposite sides of the political spectrum, neither shies away from the divisive subject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They also apparently plain don\u2019t like each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On a recent episode of his podcast, Whitlock opened up about an incident from 14 years ago. Whitlock has been publically critical of Hill on several occasions. In 2020, in reference to her tweets about then-President Donald Trump, he said on <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/foxsportsradio.iheart.com\/content\/2020-07-21-jason-whitlock-clay-travis-rip-jemele-hill-for-her-role-in-woke-sports\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FOX Sports Radio<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I wanna be careful and respectful but I have to be honest and just say that Jemele Hill is a simple person, and I don\u2019t say that with much respect. If that\u2019s the substance of your political argument, that I\u2019m going to make this broad generalization about roughly 40-50% of America that you\u2019re all racist because you support this guy is just a simple-minded thought. It\u2019s a Twitter thought.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>On the most recent episode of his podcast, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/jason-whitlocks-fearless-opinion-his-sports-media-peers\/id1569056584?i=1000526476927\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Fearless with Jason Whitlock<\/em><\/a>, the former Ball State football player shared his thoughts on several sports media luminaries, including Hill. \u201cShe has an interesting Twitter feed, and Twitter is the right depth for her,\u201d Whitlock said before expanding on the thought. \u201cYou know, 280 characters is about all she can handle. And so, launching a career as a Twitter influencer: smart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-whitlock-revealed-what-hill-did-to-get-on-his-bad-side\"><strong>Whitlock revealed what Hill did to get on his bad side<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Two of the leading experts on QB play. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/CantWait?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#CantWait<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kl8OJ66N5B\">https:\/\/t.co\/kl8OJ66N5B<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Jason Whitlock (@WhitlockJason) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WhitlockJason\/status\/1405595097031380994?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 17, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Whitlock\u2019s co-host, Uncle Jimmy, called him out following his assessment of Hill. He said Whitlock's feelings about the <em>Cari &amp; Jemele (Won't) Stick to Sports<\/em> podcast host are personal. After some prodding, Uncle Jimmy eventually got him to admit, \u201cI don\u2019t like Jemele Hill. That is accurate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He then explained the history (as he sees it) of the animosity between the two successful sports journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The issues started in 2007 when Whitlock, then a Kansas City Star columnist, wrote a column about the Don Imus controversy. The shock jock referred to the Rutgers Women\u2019s Basketball team as \u201cnappy-headed hoes\u201d and Whitlock describes the columns as being about the hypocrisy of the fact that \u201cDon Imus is irrelevant in our world,\u201d but yet, \u201crappers and everybody else talking disrespectfully about black people, black women,\u201d and they get a pass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These columns caught the attention of Oprah Winfrey and landed him several appearances on her show. \u201cThat set off the little green envy monster in a lot of people,\u201d Whitlock said. \u201cJemele at the top of the list.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After that appearance is when Whitlock says the incident that started their beef began:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">[Hill] reached out to a blog, Jason McIntyre at The Big Lead, and tried to get Jason McIntyre to write something disparaging about me and &#8212; I\u2019m just going to keep it real \u2013 I had told one of my very good friends \u2026 I had told him a story about me being in Atlanta and hooking up with a young lady that worked at a club, I think it was called Cheetah\u2019s \u2026 and she tried to get Jason McIntyre and The Big Lead to write about it. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>While the story never appeared on the blog because Whitlock and McIntyre were friends, the new host from The Blaze says, \u201cI haven\u2019t messed with Jemele Hill since.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-whitlock-dished-on-several-other-sports-media-colleagues\"><strong>Whitlock dished on several other sports media colleagues <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Colin Cowherd, Jason Whitlock reportedly set for &quot;PTI&quot;-style show on FS1 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/YWkzoCCcCI\">https:\/\/t.co\/YWkzoCCcCI<\/a><\/p>&mdash; The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/washingtonpost\/status\/727314747033526284?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 3, 2016<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Whitlock also shared candid assessments of other prominent sports media figures on this episode of his podcast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He started by giving glowing reviews of <a  href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/espns-michael-wilbon-hints-kim-mulkey-left-baylor-conservative\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>PTI\u2019s Michael Wilbon<\/em><\/a> and Tony Kornheiser. The former FOX Sports host calls them \u201cthe godfathers\u201d and credits the writers-turned-TV-hosts for laying the foundation for sports media on TV. He also said, while he deeply respects and looks up to Wilbon, he has a closer personal relationship with Kornheiser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whitlock calls his former <em>Speak for Yourself<\/em> co-host, Colin Cowherd, \u201cone of the most interesting people I\u2019ve ever met in this business.\u201d He also raves about Cowherd\u2019s professionalism and business savvy. He admits that, while they did have disagreements at times, working with Cowherd \u201cwas terrific for me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also spoke about his relationship with Dan Le Batard, who Whitlock describes as \u201cthe closest friend I had in the sports business\u201d at one point. The two are no longer close, according to Whitlock, because Le Batard couldn\u2019t handle the \u201clevel of heat I was generating\u201d with his controversial comments at ESPN and distanced himself from Whitlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Like <\/em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Sports7dotcom\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Sports7<\/em><\/a><em> on Facebook.
