However, despite receiving offers from NFL teams, Bolt never played pro football, and he recently revealed why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-usain-bolt-s-speed-would-have-been-incredible-in-the-nfl\">Usain Bolt\u2019s speed would have been incredible in the NFL<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Usain Bolt | ALL Olympic finals + Bonus round | Top Moments\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FuiJHJz4f5Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Bolt had a legendary sprinting career. He won eight Olympic gold medals, and he still holds the world records for the 100- and 200-meter dashes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He then later used his speed to try out a career in soccer, as Bolt ultimately trained with the Central Coast Mariners in Australia in 2018. However, he turned down a pro contract and later retired from sports in 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to soccer, the legendary sprinter could have also tried to launch a pro football career in the NFL. He told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/story\/2019-09-23\/reggie-bush-usc-ncaa-sanctions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Los Angeles Times<\/a> in 2019 that he received multiple offers to play wide receiver in the league following the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. And I knew if I showed up with my speed, that\u2019s what\u2019s gonna happen. These guys are going to be waiting to take me out, so I was like, \u2018You know what? I don\u2019t want to try that.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, the only reason Bolt chose to not launch an NFL career was because of how violent the sport was when he received offers in 2008 and 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What if he wasn\u2019t currently retired, though, and received an offer now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-usain-bolt-would-play-in-the-nfl-now-if-he-weren-t-retired\">Usain Bolt would play in the NFL now if he weren\u2019t retired<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Line up then stop hiding \ud83e\udd74 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0hxWiuZe6n\">https:\/\/t.co\/0hxWiuZe6n<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Ty Hill (@cheetah) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cheetah\/status\/1420802344741187591?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 29, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Bolt seems to have moved on from his athletic endeavors, as he has three kids. If he were to receive NFL offers today (and if he weren't retired), though, the former sprinter would absolutely try to play football now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf it was now, I would have tried because it\u2019s not as crazy as it was back in the day,\u201d he said to McAfee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also revealed that <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/kansas-city-chiefs-cut-mitchell-schwartz-hes-still-helping-protect-patrick-mahomes-future\/\">Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> wide receiver <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/patrick-mahomes-tells-madden-nfl-22-creator-time-get-up-to-speed-tyreek-hill-greatness\/\">Tyreek Hill<\/a> &#8212; one of the fastest players in the NFL &#8212; talked trash to him in the past. But Bolt knows that he would beat Hill in a race, given that his 40-yard dash time (in sneakers) is tied for the NFL record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dMe and Tyreek Hill got into it because he\u2019s a Gatorade-sponsored athlete also, so we got into it one time,\u201d Bolt said. \u201cWe were sitting down, we were talking. He [said] he could take me, and he was talking, \u2018blah blah blah,\u2019 but then I went to the combine one year, and if you go on the [internet] right now, I ran 4.22 in my sweats and some shoes. Come on, Tyreek Hill, you got no chance. None whatsoever.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After those comments, Hill then <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cheetah\/status\/1420802344741187591\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quote-tweeted<\/a> McAfee's post of Bolt's interview and said, &#8220;Line up then, stop hiding.&#8221; It's unclear, though, if Bolt would actually ever race Hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bolt may be retired from sports, but with his favorite NFL team being the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers would probably love to see him in Green Bay if he were to ever change his mind. That, however, doesn't seem too likely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although we never got to see it, we all know that Usain Bolt\u2019s speed would have been electric in the NFL.
