However, sometimes it seems like he's more concerned with the <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/tag\/sports-media\/\">media<\/a> and his podcast hosting duties than basketball. The forward has made headlines of late, <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/draymond-green-loses-all-credibility-after-admitting-just-noticed-sports-talk-legend-chris-mad-dog-russo-last-couple-of-months\/\">disparaging the old media<\/a> and touting the future of &#8220;new media,&#8221; which he sees as only former players discussing professional sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Longtime NBA pundit Bill Simmons, of The Ringer, recently discussed Green's former teammate, Kevin Durant, on his podcast. When Simmons started discussing Durant's state of mind, he quickly caught himself and trolled Green for his new media whining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bill-simmons-joked-about-draymond-green-s-new-media-opinions\"><strong>Bill Simmons joked about Draymond Green's new media opinions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1250\" height=\"703\" src=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Draymond-Green-Bill-Simmons.jpg?w=925&#038;strip=all&#038;quality=89\" alt=\"(L-R) Golden State Warriors player and new media advocate Draymond Green; The Ringer's Bill Simmons.\" class=\"wp-image-1520756\" \/><figcaption>(L-R) Draymond Green, Bill Simmons | Thearon W. He's taken plenty of old media to task for sharing their opinions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest example of this was criticizing <em>SportsCenter<\/em> anchor Zubin Mehenti for calling Kevin Durant &#8220;emotional.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Just watched the anchor on Sportscenter with Nick Fredell (sic) discuss KD wanting a trade, and called him emotional\u2026,&#8221; the Golden State Warriors player tweeted. &#8220;Who are you to call someone emotional? What makes you comfortable? Talk BASKETBALL! Computers got y'all overly comfortable.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Just watched the anchor on Sportscenter with Nick Fredell discuss KD wanting a trade, and called him emotional\u2026 Who are you to call someone emotional? Computers got y\u2019all overly comfortable. <br><br>TNM<\/p>&mdash; Draymond Green (@Money23Green) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Money23Green\/status\/1546739719815548928?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 12, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A few days later, the topic on the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/stealth-mitchell-trades-kd-advice-aytons-max-potential\/id1043699613?i=1000569948638\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Bill Simmons Podcast<\/em><\/a> was also KD's trade request. Simmons shared a comment Goran Dragic made about playing with Durant and Kyrie Irving. The point guard said, &#8220;it wasn't about the team, it was more about individual performances,&#8221; playing with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/bill-simmons-moves-stephen-curry-ahead-of-6-nba-greats-into-top-10-nba-pantheon\/\">The NBA historian<\/a> then speculated, &#8220;that's the part with KD that I don't think he totally sees.&#8221; That's when Simmons caught himself and took a sarcastic shot at Green, saying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I don't want to talk about the psychology of players too much because Sherriff Draymond Green might come in, in the new media police car. \u2026 &#8216;Here's a guy that didn't play basketball talking about \u2014. &#8216;Well, that's unfortunately my job. Sorry Sherriff Draymond<\/p><cite>Bill Simmons on Draymond Green<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Simmons' co-host, Joe House, got a good chuckle out of that. But Simmons was \u2014 at least partly \u2014 making a serious point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, fans care about what players have to say and even their opinions on some things. That said, what many fans care about more is reading and listening to sports experts who can share facts and opinions, and speculation.
