Simply put, the four major championships<\/a> are the most prestigious events in men's golf. While winning an event on the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, or any of the many professional tours worldwide, there's nothing like winning a major. <\/p>\n\n\n\n And just to be clear, we're talking about the four modern major championships here. While the U.S. Amateur and British Amateur were once considered majors, we're sticking with The Open Championship, the U.S. Open, the PGA<\/a> Championship, and The Masters<\/a> for these purposes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n To date, 465 major championships have been played, the most recent being the 2023 U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club. And in those 465 majors, 231 different players have won at least one. Of those 231, 86 have won two or more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Jack Nicklaus, of course, leads the way with 18, while Tiger Woods is three back with 15.
