The second thing you likely wondered is what the heck is going on with all those cuts on his arms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jokic consistently plays full games with five-inch gashes on both of his arms, so much so that <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/tag\/denver-nuggets\/\">Denver Nuggets<\/a> trainers always need to have a bottle of iodine handy in case the cuts start bleeding all over the court or other players. The two-time reigning MVP may lead the NBA in every advanced statistic known to man, but he also leads the league in visible battle wounds on his body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, what about Jokic makes him such an easy target for wandering fingernails?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-does-nikola-jokic-always-have-cuts-on-his-arms\">Why does Nikola Jokic always have cuts on his arms?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Another battle scar for Nikola Jokic.<br><br>He&#39;s on track to win his 3rd MVP, but he also wins the award for the most scratched and abused arms in the NBA. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CPqpQ15NF5\">pic.twitter.com\/CPqpQ15NF5<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Joel Rush (@JoelRushNBA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoelRushNBA\/status\/1629656311058296833?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 26, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Every time Nikola Jokic walks off the basketball court after a game, it looks as if he just escaped from a surprise attack from a grizzly bear. The dozens of gashes on both of his arms may as well be a part of his uniform by now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Denver's win against the Los Angeles Clippers over the weekend, Jokic put up 40 points, 17 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 scratches to notch his league-leading 23rd quadruple-double of the season. The performance even prompted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/nba\/comments\/11d4eg2\/cuts_on_jokic_arms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reddit thread<\/a> about why the MVP favorite always has gashes all over his arms. As is the case with most Reddit threads, the commenters weren't able to crack the code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not even Jokic knows why he always looks as if he just emerged from a hiking trail overgrown by thorn bushes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I'm always bleeding \u2014 I'm used to it,&#8221; Jokic\u00a0told Ohm Youngmisuk of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/26657828\/denver-nuggets-center-nikola-jokic-excelling-having-fun-first-postseason\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ESPN<\/a> in 2019. &#8220;I am going to wear sleeves next year \u2014 100 percent.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, Jokic hasn't put the sleeves into action yet, so he must like how the slew of cuts make him look tough. But can they be explained?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1250\" height=\"833\" src=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Nikola-Jokic.jpg?w=925&#038;strip=all&#038;quality=89\" alt=\"Nikola Jokic looks to pass against the Clippers.\" class=\"wp-image-1552256\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets looks to pass during a game against the Los Angeles Clippers | Matthew Stockman\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, for one, Jokic handles the ball more than any other player in the NBA. His 99.1 touches per game rank first in the league by nearly five touches. He also battles in the paint every game with the most physical player on the opposing team, so there's bound to be some scratching and clawing to keep him off the boards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, though, Jokic's free-throw attempts don't exactly match up with how often he's holding the ball. Despite ranking No. 1 in touches, the center ranks just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamrankings.com\/nba\/player-stat\/free-throws-attempted\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">18th in the NBA in free-throw attempts per game<\/a>. Jokic is about to be a three-time MVP \u2014 something only eight players in the history of the league have accomplished \u2014 yet he still doesn't get the respect he deserves from the referees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I just wish there was a way to physically prove it.
