The four-star combo guard has until May 17 to commit to a school, but some people believe he shouldn't attend college at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/lonzo-lamelo-ball-undeniably-proving-lavar-ball-right-all-along\/\">LaVar Ball<\/a>, whose son, LaMelo Ball, skipped college to play one season in Australia's National Basketball League, thinks James would be better off following that path instead of wasting his time taking college classes. He even threw in a vintage LaVar Ball quote with his explanation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-lavar-ball-urges-bronny-james-to-skip-college-and-play-in-australia\">LaVar Ball urges Bronny James to skip college and play in Australia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Lavar Ball Wants Bronny James In The NBL Instead Of College\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/p4v1pIzpNdI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>LaVar Ball supported his two eldest sons, LiAngelo and Lonzo, when they chose to play college basketball at UCLA. But his opinion on college basketball became clear when his youngest son, LaMelo, decided to skip college in 2019 and prepare for the NBA draft in Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LaMelo played one season in the NBL with the Illawarra Hawks, where he averaged 17.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 6.8 assists in 12 games. That decision turned out to be a wise one, as the point guard ended up going No. 3 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft to the Charlotte Hornets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LaVar has experienced the pros and cons of both paths through his three sons, and he believes LeBron James' son, Bronny James, would be better off following LaMelo's lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s better over here. Why? Because you\u2019re playing against grown men and you\u2019re getting paid,\u201d Ball recently told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=p4v1pIzpNdI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sporting News Australia<\/a>. \u201cIf you want to play basketball and you really that dude, why am I sitting in class trying to pass a chemistry test? I don\u2019t wanna play no chemistry. I don\u2019t wanna practice no Spanish. No!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shades of Cardale Jones and his famous &#8220;we ain't come to play SCHOOL&#8221; tweet with that one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI wanna wake up, go practice, go back to sleep, go practice, have a game, practice. He\u2019s going to fill the gym up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA lot of people want to come to the gym to be like \u2018he ain\u2019t like that for real,\u2019 and then the other half is like \u2018I want to support.' So you\u2019re going to get the haters and the supporters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Luca Evans of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/highschool\/story\/2023-01-17\/bronny-james-sierra-canyon-high-boys-basketball\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Los Angeles Times<\/em><\/a>, Bronny is deciding between USC, Oregon, and Ohio State.
