Despite the individual brilliance of superstar\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/tag\/luka-doncic\/\">Luka Doncic<\/a>, the team has lost six of their last seven games and are now on the verge of missing the playoffs entirely, even after\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/kyrie-irving-contract-new-mavs-star-extra-2m-pocket-blowing-up-nets\/\">trading for Kyrie Irving<\/a>\u00a0at the NBA trade deadline. While Doncic seems like a loyal player, maybe the team has sunk so low that he will want out this offseason. If that\u2019s the case (or even if it\u2019s not), the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/tag\/new-york-knicks\/\">New York Knicks<\/a>\u00a0should make a Luka Doncic trade offer this offseason. Despite this Herculean effort, the Mavericks still lost 129-122 to drop a full game out of the No. 10 seed and the play-in tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Luka in the loss to the Heat: <br><br>42 Points (game high)<br>68% Shooting<br>10 Rebounds (game high)<br>8 Assists (team high)<br>2 Steals (game high)<br><br>Mavs have lost 6 of their last 7 games<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/oNmt1usToK\">pic.twitter.com\/oNmt1usToK<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Ballislife.com (@Ballislife) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ballislife\/status\/1642526210386165760?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 2, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can blame this incredibly disappointing season\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/after-boos-from-mavs-fans-kyrie-irving-had-a-similar-2-word-response-to-one-he-used-with-the-boston-celtics\/\">on Kyrie Irving<\/a>, Doncic\u2019s mysterious personal issues he admits he\u2019s going through, or the Mavs\u2019 organization continued failure to put a championship-level supporting cast around Luka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Either way, it wouldn\u2019t be a complete shock if a Luka Doncic trade was in the offing this NBA offseason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If this happens, the Knicks need to pounce and offer the best and biggest trade package they can. New York has gotten better in recent years, but adding a true superstar continues to elude the proud franchise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Knicks trade offer for Doncic this offseason should be\u00a0RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Obi Toppin, and Isaiah Hartenstein, along with 2023 first-round picks from the Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, and Washington Wizards, and the Knicks 2025, 2027, and 2029 first-rounders.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the Mavericks, this is an excellent package, all things considered. The team gets its 2023 first-rounder back, as well as protected picks from the Pistons and Wizards that will convey down the line. They also get four players 25 and under to start their rebuild with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Luka Doncic trade isn\u2019t commensurate value at all for one of the best five players in the NBA. But it is in line with recent blockbuster deals for players like <a  href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/kevin-durant-fires-back-charles-barkley-after-hall-of-famer-calls-out-sensitive-star-60-minutes\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kevin Durant<\/a>, Donovan Mitchell, and Rudy Gobert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the Knicks, getting a top player like Doncic is what the team has been trying to do since it acquired Carmelo Anthony in 2011.
