The five-time <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/tag\/the-masters\/\">Masters<\/a> champion says his game and his endurance are in a better place than they were at this time last year, so making the cut should be his bare-minimum goal this time around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Tiger's chances at a strong finish this week might be out of his control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The weather forecast in Augusta, Ga. looks miserable for this weekend. If it's going to be as cold and rainy as predicted, Woods will be doomed before he even strikes his opening tee shot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-masters-weather-forecast-looks-ominous-this-week\">The Masters weather forecast looks ominous this week<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The weather for Augusta, GA during Masters week.<br><br>Let&#39;s see how this turns out <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/cJls4FwVbu\">pic.twitter.com\/cJls4FwVbu<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Maxwell White (@MaxWhiteWXYZ) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MaxWhiteWXYZ\/status\/1642865004452933634?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 3, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When you think about <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/gary-player-nearly-croaked-masters-champions-dinner-losing-battle-oversized-prawn\/\">Masters<\/a> week, the images that likely come to your mind are the pristine grass, the bright pink azalea bushes surrounding the greens, and the local birds providing the players with delightful background music under the Georgia sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, we might not get much of that this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to this week's weather forecast for Augusta, Ga., the golf course will be dumped with rain from Thursday through Sunday. The temperature isn't cooperating for the tournament, either, as Friday and Saturday both feature a low of 51 degrees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That's not ideal for any of the 88 players in the 2023 Masters field, but it's especially worrisome for Mr. Eldrick Woods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-tiger-woods-masters-hopes-might-be-doomed-before-he-tees-off\">Tiger Woods' Masters hopes might be doomed before he tees off<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1250\" height=\"833\" src=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Tiger-Woods.jpg?w=1024&amp;h=682&#038;strip=all&#038;quality=89\" alt=\"Tiger Woods plays a practice round ahead of the 2023 Masters.\" class=\"wp-image-1556274\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Tiger Woods plays a shot from the third tee during a practice round prior to the 2023 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club | Patrick Smith\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At this stage of his career, Woods needs everything to be perfect for him to play to the best of his ability. Most of that he can control \u2014 such as his rest leading up to a tournament, his recovery work before and after rounds, and his swing and putting stroke being where it needs to be to compete in major championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But one factor he can't control is the weather, as he alluded to in his press conference from Augusta National on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The press conference moderator introduced Woods and praised him for making the cut last year before faltering on the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Well thank you, yeah, and then it got cold,&#8221; Tiger responded with a chuckle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Woods caught a break last year with friendly weather in the first two days of the tournament, and his leg held up in back-to-back rounds of 72. Then came the third round, when the weather dipped below 50 degrees and forced players to break out the sweaters, beanies, and winter gloves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Woods had no answer for the cold weather, and he struggled to a 5-over round of 77 on Saturday. Tiger's right leg still has a metal rod and multiple screws holding the bones together, so it tightens up when the temperature drops and makes it impossible for him to swing freely and comfortably walk a championship golf course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the weather forecast is correct about cold, rainy conditions on Friday and Saturday, it will be a struggle for Woods to break par.
