He quickly found a new home with the New York Giants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Warner's warm welcome to the Giants did not last long. The first pick of the 2004 NFL Draft quickly pushed him out of his starting position. Let's look at <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/kurt-warner-biography-career-net-worth-family-top-stories\/\">Warner's career<\/a>\u00a0and his brief time with the New York Giants.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-kurt-warner-s-giants-career-began-in-2004\">Kurt Warner's Giants career began in 2004 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most NFL fans are well aware of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/kurt-warner-1998-season-stats-game-log-more\/\">Warner's Cinderella season in 1999<\/a>. But some may have forgotten the details of his lone season with the New York Giants. After graduating from Northern Iowa in 1994, Warner went undrafted. The athlete played football for the Iowa Barnstormers, a pro indoor football team. He also paid his bills by <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/kurt-warner-stocked-shelves-grocery-store-missing-nfl-draft\/\">stocking shelves at Hy-Vee<\/a> during this time.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">On This Date in 1999: St. Louis Rams quarterback Trent Green suffers a season-ending knee injury in a preseason game, opening the door for Kurt Warner. After serving as a backup quarterback in the 1998 season,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/kurt-warner-1999-season-stats-game-log-more\/\">Warner got his big break in 1999<\/a>\u00a0after the starter went down with an injury during the preseason. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Warner was named the <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/kurt-warner-1-only-2-quarterbacks-modern-era-win-nfl-mvp-first-year-starter\/\">NFL MVP<\/a> during the regular season and helped lead his team to a Super Bowl championship. He also took home Super Bowl MVP honors. After six seasons with the Rams, the team released Warner in 2004 after he broke a finger on his throwing hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, just two days after being released from the Rams, Warner was able to sign a one-year contract worth $3 million with the New York Giants. After playing four years at Ole Miss, Manning was chosen as the first pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. The younger brother of Peyton Manning played the entirety of his NFL career with the Giants from 2004-19.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having 210 consecutive starts for the Giants from 2004-17, Eli holds the franchise records in passing yards, touchdown passes, and completions. During his career, he led the Giants to two Super Bowl Championships in 2008 and 2012. Eli also earned Super Bowl MVP honors during both of his Super Bowl victories.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-kurt-warner-s-stats-from-his-time-with-the-giants\">Kurt Warner's stats from his time with the Giants<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Warner played a <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/kurt-warner-2004-season-stats-game-log-more\/\">total of 10 games for the Giants <\/a>during the 2004 season. The organization was simply looking toward the future, and the future needed to be built on the back of the young Eli Manning.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After being pushed out of the Giants organization in favor of younger talent, Warner moved to Phoenix. He signed a $4 million contract <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/kurt-warner-2005-season-stats-game-log-more\/\">with the Arizona Cardinals\u00a0in 2005<\/a>. Warner spent the remainder of his NFL career with the Cardinals, <a href=\"https:\/\/sports7.us\/kurt-warner-retired-nfl-38-almost-returned-arizona-cardinals-43-year-old\/\">retiring from football<\/a> at the conclusion of the 2009 season.
