After spending 36 weeks as the No. 1 player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking in 2007 and 2008, the Oklahoma State product turned pro in 2009. And it didn't take long for Fowler to turn some heads.

In his first PGA Tour event as a pro, he tied for seventh at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. And just one week later, he tied for second at the Frys.com Open. In 2010, he continued to play well, recording seven top-10 finishes in 28 starts, including a pair of runners-up. The year after that, the California native earned four additional top-10s, including a tie for fifth at The Open Championship.

Fowler finally broke through for his first PGA Tour victory at the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship, outlasting Rory McIlroy and D.A. Points in a playoff.

In 2014, he joined an elite group of players by finishing in the top five at each of the four major championships. After tying for fifth at the Masters, Fowler tied for second at both the U.S. Open and The Open Championship and closed out the major season with a tie for third at the PGA Championship. That was also the year he cracked the top 10 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time.
