The Detroit Pistons fired general manager Troy Weaver on Friday, as team owner Tom Gores continues to rework the front office. Weaver, 56, was first hired as Detroit's general manager on June 18, 2020.

Under Weaver, the Pistons went 74-244 (.233) overall across four NBA seasons and extended a postseason drought to five seasons, dating back to 2019. Detroit has had the league's worst record the past two seasons and won just 23% of its games during his tenure.

Detroit hired Weaver after he was with the Oklahoma City Thunder for 12 seasons, including three-plus years as vice president of basketball operations.

During the 2008 offseason, Weaver pushed for drafting Russell Westbrook with the No. 4 overall pick in the draft. At the time, Westbrook wasn't projected as a first-round recruit.

Breaking: As Trajan Langdon’s tenure as Detroit Pistons President begins, the franchise and general manager Troy Weaver are planning to part ways, sources tell me and @JLEdwardsIII. pic.twitter.com/N0OSaE3cZH
