In case you hadn't heard, which is highly unlikely, Rob Gronkowski ended his one-year retirement from the NFL on Tuesday and was traded from the New England Patriots to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gronk will reunite with quarterback Tom Brady as the Bucs are now one of the clear favorites to win the Super Bowl. But let's not forget that Rob Gronkowski is still under contract with WWE, a deal he signed earlier this year, and the company sent him a warning after the blockbuster trade went down.

Tuesday afternoon was pure insanity after news hit that a trade between the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was in the works. Rob Gronkowski has teased a return to the NFL on numerous occasions but nothing had come of it. That all changed on Tuesday when it was announced that Gronk would be reuniting with Tom Brady in Florida for the 2020 NFL season.
While many NFL trades take time with physicals and details and such, everything seemed to happen so quickly with this one. Within just an hour or two, it was done. Rob Gronkowski passed his physical and is heading to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who will also receive a seventh-round pick in this week's NFL draft. In return, the Patriots, with whom Gronk won three Super Bowl titles, will receive a fourth-round selection.

Rob Gronkowski is a lifelong WWE fan and it made perfect sense for him to join the company following his retirement from the NFL. Outside of obviously being a phenomenal athlete, he simply oozes charisma, which naturally works well in professional wrestling. He made a guest appearance three years ago at WrestleMania 33 but actually joined the company last month, signing an official contract that was rumored to include wrestling a few matches throughout the year.
Gronk debuted on an episode of “Friday Night SmackDown” and then hosted the two-night WrestleMania 36 event earlier this month, winning the 24/7 Championship as well. For those unaware, that title is one that must be defended at all times, not just in the ring, and often makes for some hilarious segments.

While it isn't yet known exactly how Rob Gronkowski returning to the NFL affects his WWE contract moving forward, the company seems to be okay with things and sent out a congratulatory tweet on Tuesday night. But they also sent a warning concerning Gronk's 24/7 title, letting him know that he's still a target.
“Congratulations to Rob Gronkowski, the current WWE 24/7 Champion, on his return to football. Per the rules of the 24/7 title, Gronk must defend his championship at all times in any location. He could be celebrating a touchdown pass from #TomBrady...anytime, anywhere.”
