2027 World Series odds put Brewers’ repeat bid behind Dodgers after historic run

Milwaukee’s first World Series championship immediately turns into a repeat chase. The Brewers are second on the 2027 board after an 11-win postseason run.

Milwaukee Brewers players celebrating after winning the World Series as 2027 odds list them second behind the Dodgers

The 2027 World Series odds are already framing the next MLB season around a familiar question for a newly crowned champion: can the Brewers do it again? As of Oct. 28 at DraftKings Sportsbook, Milwaukee is priced at +500 after winning the first World Series title in franchise history, second only to the Dodgers at +310.

The early board arrives in the immediate aftermath of a Brewers postseason that was both brief and emphatic. Milwaukee played 13 postseason games, won 11 of them and finished the run by beating the Rays in the World Series in five games.

Brewers move from breakthrough story to repeat candidate

Milwaukee’s title run was not built on surviving a long series of toss-up games. The Brewers finished off San Diego in four games, swept the two-time defending champion Dodgers in the NLCS and then closed out Tampa Bay in five in the Fall Classic.

The Brewers’ only two playoff losses were narrow ones: a 4-3 defeat to the Padres in Game 3 of the divisional round and a 4-3 loss to the Rays in extra innings in Game 4 of the World Series.

That placed Milwaukee in rare company. In the Wild Card era, which began in 1995, the Brewers became just the fifth team to lose two or fewer playoff games and still win the World Series.

That context helps explain why the defending champions are not buried behind the sport’s traditional powers on the first 2027 board. Milwaukee is not the favorite, but +500 reflects a team being treated as a serious repeat threat immediately after its franchise-defining championship.

Dodgers remain the early favorite

The Dodgers sit at the top of the market at +310 despite being swept by Milwaukee in the NLCS. Their placement keeps Los Angeles ahead of the defending champions and every American League contender in the opening look at the 2027 Fall Classic.

There are also major roster and role questions around Los Angeles entering the next cycle. The direction of the Dodgers’ pitching staff versus lineup remains up in the air, along with whether Tarik Skubal re-signs and whether Shohei Ohtani returns as both a starting pitcher and one of the game’s top hitters.

Those questions do not remove the Dodgers from the top spot. Instead, the early odds suggest the market still views Los Angeles as the team to beat even after Milwaukee ended its bid for another pennant.

Where the rest of the contenders stand

Behind the Dodgers and Brewers, the Yankees are third at +700. The Red Sox follow at +1100, with the Mariners and Phillies both at +1800.

The Rays, who lost to Milwaukee in the World Series, are tied for seventh at +2200 alongside the Mets. Tampa Bay’s position keeps the reigning American League champion in the next tier of contenders, but clearly behind both Los Angeles and Milwaukee.

What comes next

The Brewers now enter the next season with a different label: defending World Series champions. The first 2027 oddsboard makes clear that Milwaukee’s title has changed its place in the championship conversation, even if the Dodgers remain the early favorite to win the next Fall Classic.
