NFL trade deadline rumors: Eagles, Chargers expected to weigh sell-offs
The NFL trade market has already moved All-Pro talent, and attention is shifting toward Philadelphia and Los Angeles before the Nov. 10 deadline.
NFL trade deadline rumors are building around the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Chargers as the Nov. 10 deadline approaches. FOX Sports’ Ralph Vacchiano reports that NFL sources expect potential sell-offs in Philadelphia and Los Angeles after a week in which several major names have already moved.
The market has already shown how aggressive teams can be. Three players with All-Pro talent have been traded in the last few days, including Quenton Nelson, DeForest Buckner and Jeffery Simmons.
All-Pro trades have set the tone
This week has been a prime example that very few trade ideas are far-fetched.
The Indianapolis Colts traded guard Quenton Nelson and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, respectively. Vacchiano described the Indianapolis situation by writing that the fire sale there has already begun.
Possibly the biggest deal of the deadline came Thursday, when the Chicago Bears landed Tennessee Titans All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons for two first-round picks and a fourth-round selection.
Those moves have framed the final stretch before Nov. 10 as a potentially active period, with teams assessing whether to buy, sell or make a narrower move.
Eagles and Chargers viewed as possible sellers
According to the report, sell-offs in Philadelphia and Los Angeles could follow soon. The Chargers are 0-6, while the Eagles are 2-5, and both teams are described as having expendable players who could bring back assets for offseason rebuilding.
It doesn’t sound like either team is there yet, but they will be soon. Or at least they should be,
one NFL assistant general manager said.
They’re not crazy enough to sit tight, especially with so many players on expiring deals.
another NFL executive said the Eagles and Chargers stand out because of the number of players who could appeal to other teams.
Those teams have multiple tradeable players with value,
You might see teams like the Titans or Bucs make an isolated trade. But if you’re looking for a sell-off, the Eagles and the Chargers might be it.
Which Eagles players are being watched?
Based on conversations with executives and scouts, NFL teams are watching at least three players on each squad. For Philadelphia, the Eagles are expected to at least field offers for cornerback Riq Woolen, guard Landon Dickerson and tight end Dallas Goedert, according to the report.
Defensive tackle Moro Ojomo was also added to the list by one scout. At least two sources also wondered about running back Saquon Barkley, making him part of the deadline conversation, though any potential move involving Barkley remains unconfirmed.
The Eagles’ situation is notable because the reported names cover several areas of the roster: the secondary, offensive line, tight end and defensive front, with Barkley representing the highest-profile name being discussed in uncertain terms.
What happens next before Nov. 10
The deadline arrives Nov. 10, leaving teams a narrowing window to act. The Colts have already started selling, the Bears have already made a major move for Simmons, and the Eagles and Chargers are now being watched as possible next steps in a more active deadline market.
For now, Philadelphia is expected to field offers on specific players, while Los Angeles is also viewed as a potential seller because of its 0-6 start and tradeable roster pieces. Whether either team moves from listening to making deals will determine how far this deadline surge goes.
